Relaxed Shirt & Wide-Leg Cropped Trouser Set — Drawstring Waist Co-ord

A two-piece co-ord cut for everyday wear: a relaxed collar shirt with a visible button placket and long sleeves, and a matching pair of wide-leg trousers that stop at the ankle. The trousers sit on an elasticated waist with a drawstring, so there is no zip to fasten and no button to fight with — you pull them on and tie the cord to where you want them. The shirt is cut long and boxy, so it works closed as a shirt and open as a light layer over a vest or a tee.

The cloth is a soft, matte weave with a gentle drape and a slightly slubbed surface. It creases as you wear it, in the way light natural-looking wovens do, and it moves loosely rather than holding a hard line. Why this set works

• An elasticated drawstring waist. The trousers have no zip and no fixed waistband — you adjust the cord yourself, which means a forgiving fit and a waist that sits where you want it.

Size guide

These are the measurements published for this set, in centimetres with inches alongside. It is made in five sizes: S, M, L, XL and 2XL. Chest, shoulder, waist and hip are garment measurements taken all the way around, not body measurements — compare them with the same measurement taken on a garment you already own. The figures come from measuring the product by hand and may vary by 1–3 cm.

How to read it: the trouser waist is the figure that decides your size — it runs 66 cm at S to 82 cm at 2XL in 4 cm steps. Because the waist is elasticated and tied with a cord, the fit is forgiving, and most people can take their usual size. The trousers finish at the ankle — on a shorter frame they will sit slightly lower than the photographs show, and on a taller frame slightly higher.

Fit and how to wear it

• Closed, as a shirt. Button it up and the boxy cut gives a clean, straight line over the trousers. The collar holds its shape without being stiff.
• Open, as a layer. Worn undone over a vest or a tee — which is how it is styled in the photographs — the shirt reads as a light overshirt and the long body covers the hip.
• The waist is yours to set. Because the cord is elasticated, you can pull the trousers high on the waist or sit them lower, and tie the cord to hold that position.
• On shoes. The cropped leg is designed to show the ankle, so the trousers sit best with trainers, loafers or a flat sandal. A bulky boot will break the line.
• On height. The top length runs 68–72 cm from the shoulder — upper thigh on most people. The heavier sizes are only marginally longer, so the same size suits a range of heights.

Fabric and care

The cloth is a soft, matte woven with a light slub in the surface and a loose, easy drape. It is not a stiff fabric and it is not a shiny one — it falls away from the body and creases naturally as you move, which is part of the look rather than a fault.

Care

• Wash cool, on a gentle or hand-wash cycle.
• Do not bleach.
• Hang to dry away from direct sunlight; do not tumble dry.
• Warm iron, and press on the inside where you can — a hot iron directly on a matte woven can leave a shine.
• Creases fall out as the fabric hangs. If you prefer a crisper finish, a light press along the placket and the trouser seams is enough.

Is this two pieces or one?
Two separate pieces — a relaxed collar shirt and a pair of wide-leg cropped trousers. The price is for the set.

Can I wear the pieces separately?
Yes. The shirt works alone over jeans or a slip dress, and the trousers work with a plain knit or a fitted tee. Nothing about the set ties you to wearing both at once.

Is the trouser waist elasticated?
Yes. It is an elasticated waist with a drawstring cord — no zip and no fixed waistband. You tie the cord to set the fit.

How cropped are the trousers?
They finish at the ankle, leaving the ankle and the top of the shoe on show. The length runs from 88 cm at S to 96 cm at 2XL, measured from the waist.

Does it come with a belt?
No belt — the tie at the waist is the trousers' own drawstring cord. There are no belt loops.

Is it see-through?
The shirt is a light woven rather than a dense one. In the photographs it reads opaque, and the two darker colourways are fully opaque. In the light tone, a strongly contrasting underlayer can show in bright backlight, so a neutral layer underneath is the safe choice.
